Great writer. Great book. I’ve read this one twice now, and that’s something I almost never do. The opening to the book is fantastic. It’s a long quote from The Tin Drum and prose on how it affected him. The image of the spaghetti being cooked in this guy’s bedroom, reusing the water, eating on dirty plates. It is just too much for my wannabe bohemian heart to bear.
What I learned:
- I’m not alone in my love of street food.
- I’m not alone in my appreciation of eating food over the counter right after it comes out of the pan.
- I’m not alone in my distaste for pretention when it comes to food.
